Charles Xie is the Founder and CEO of Zilliz, a company building an unstructured data platform for AI applications. He is the creator of Milvus, the world's most popular open-source vector database. Milvus is used by over 5,000 companies globally, with over 20 million cumulative downloads and installations. Charles is also an active member of the LF AI & Data Foundation, serving as a director since 2020 and as Chairman of the Board in 2020 and 2021. Prior to founding Zilliz, he was a founding engineer of the Oracle 12c cloud database project. Charles holds a bachelor's degree from Huazhong University of Science and Technology and a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
